Obstetrics is a branch of medicine that deals with the care of women's reproductive tracts during pregnancy, childbirth and post-delivery.

We at Adiva Super Speciality Care believe in maximizing convenience and comfort for you. We provide single room maternity care where labor, delivery and recovery takes place in the same setting. We enable you to have a natural birth experience with minimal medical intervention within a hospital setting. If necessary, the option of anesthesia, epidural or more intensive medical care is also available. Most importantly, Adiva care provides latest technology and state-of-the-art obstetrical/neonatal units, should they be needed.

After the birth you will have time for yourself to peacefully greet and welcome your child and establish the first precious bonding. We then measure the important parameters, weigh and bathe the child and do a medical examination in your presence. This is then followed by a celebration in which you, your family and the entire staff rejoice the coming of your precious little one.

We counsel our patients about the benefits of umbilical cord stem cells preservation.

EXPERTS SPEAK ON SIMPLE BUT SIGNIFICANT FACTS OF INFERTILITY

Infertility should not be treated as a social stigma. It is no one’s fault. Society should be kind and supportive. Couples with known problems like low sperm count, polycystic ovaries, fibroid, endometriosis should see a doctor as soon as possible.

WHAT IS INFERTILITY?
When a couple is living a Conjugal life without practicing any form of contraceptive for 1 year and still has not conceived, then the couple is clinically known as Infertile couple.

IS INFERTILITY ONLY A FEMALE PROBLEM?
Infertility has both male and female factors, although male factor is 25%, whereas female factor is 75%, but still male factor if detected should be treated by Uroandrologist. The female partner should be treated by Gynaecologist. Both man and woman should equally participate in the treatment

DOES INFERTILITY TREATMENT ONLY MEAN ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUE?
Assisted reproductive technique is the last resort. The couple should be thoroughly evaluated on the basis of history taking, clinical examination and investigations. IVF i.e. in – vitro – fertilization signifies fertilization of egg and sperm outside the body. Not all couples with infertility need IVF, but some cannot get pregnant without it, like the men with low sperm count and women with blocked tubes. These procedures are expensive. Results are not absolute.

ARE THERE SURGICAL WAYS OF TREATING INFERTILITY?
There are many pathological conditions which leads to female infertility like uterine polyp, fallopian tube blockage, submucous fibroids, uterus having two cavities, uterine synachae. These conditions have to be corrected surgically, otherwise even assisted reproductive technique will not yield any results.

DOES MALE INFERTILITY REQUIRE SURGICAL MANAGEMENT?
Common causes of male infertility are varicocele, undescended testis, testicular atrophy. These conditions have to be tackled surgically to improve the quality and quantity of sperms.

DOES LIFE STYLE OF MALE AFFECT FERTILITY?
Yes definitely male factors like obesity, tobacco use, smoking, alcohol use, heavy exercise, tight undergarments, exposure to hot environmental conditions, use of too many mobile phones can adversely affect fertility. Hence alleviation of these factors drastically improves fertility. Sometimes results are obtained with proper counseling and without further intervention.

DOES LIFE STYLE OF A FEMALE AFFECT FERTILITY?
Yes. Obesity, sedentary life style, exposure to radiation leads to infertility. Correction of these factors improve fertility significantly.

PAINLESS DELIVERY

There are different ways to conduct painless delivery. But most effective and commonly it is done through Epidural analgesia.

A fine bore tube (catheter) is placed in epidural space of spinal cord. This catheter is placed in lateral or sitting position. First a wide bore needle is inserted in the back after making the area numb with local anaesthesia. Then the catheter is inserted through this and the needle is removed.Catheter is then taped on the back and fixed in a convenient place for drug delivery.

Mom at 64: Lady delivers a baby girl at the age of 64, A Miracle in Adiva Super-Specialty Care
An Unbelievable story of incredible human courage and will power

This is a story of unusual human courage and unbelievable advancement in the field of reproductive medicine. This is the story of Mrs. Sarla, 64 years old lady and her husband Mr. S. N. Srivastav, 66 years old male. The couple was married on 14 December 1972. Five years following marriage when they failed to conceive on their own they sought medical help. On October 1977 she underwent Open Tuboplasty Operation (Laparotomy with Tuboplasty) in Gwalior. Following this surgery she had scar dehiscence and several other complications due to which she had a prolonged recovery and a very bad abdominal scar. Since she did not conceive even after that, they underwent one cycle of IVF treatment in August 1988. Unfortunately the treatment failed and the following year in April 1989 she reached her Menopause at the age of 41 years. 23 years later she again underwent artificial reproductive techniques in April 2013. She underwent Embryo transfer in April 2013.This time she became pregnant for the first time in her life at the age of 64 years.

She arrived at ADIVA Super Specialty Care with 10 weeks of pregnancy where she was entrusted under the care of Dr. Sula Ray Prasad, Senior Obs & Gynae for her pregnancy care and child birth. This pregnancy brought along with several complications which were age related. These complications were further aggravated because of her pregnant status. She developed pregnancy with Hypertension, Hypothyroidism. Her pre-existing osteoarthritis of both knee joints got aggravated which made her walking around problematic. She had to be monitored very closely throughout her entire pregnancy when she reached 32 weeks of gestation as her blood pressure which was till now being controlled well by medicine shot up. She had to be admitted in ICU with the blood pressure of 190/105 mm of Hg. Next afternoon keeping the blood pressure under control .She was operated upon (Emergency Cesarean Section) by Dr. Sula Ray Prasad and her team since the fetal distress started. Surgery was challenging because of her previously done open tuboplasty operation which had given rise to lot of scarring and adhesions.

A baby girl was born on 26th November 2013 at 7:33 PM with the birth weight of 1.5 Kg. The baby was monitored and managed since birth by Dr. R. G. Holla, Senior Consultant Neonatologist and his team in a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care Unit of the same hospital. The Baby girl had a very turbulent Recovery and progress under the care of Dr. R. G. Holla. Today, with God’s Grace, the mother and the baby are very happy and are both doing fine.

This entire journey is a depiction of incredible human courage, tremendous will power of the couple and triumph of the advancements in medical science and highly equipped medical institution like ADIVA Super Specialty Care. All these factors converged together to fulfill a dream which at the onset seemed Impossible.
